Skipping Games

The children are learning to skip at lunchtime and playtimes.  Did you know that skipping helps develop co-ordination, co-operation and communications skills?  It is also an activity that boys and girls can do together! Here are a few traditional skipping rhymes, perhaps you would like to help the children to learn and re-discover skipping yourself at the same time?

Jelly in the bowl, jelly in the bowl.
Wiggle, waggle, wiggle, waggle,
Jelly in the bowl.
Sausage in the pan, sausage in the pan
Turn around, turn around
Sausage in the pan.

One two buckle your shoe - Return to top
Three four shut the door
Five six pick up sticks
Seven eight lay them straight
Nine ten this is the end.

I eat my peas with honey - Return to top
I've done it all my life
It looks a little funny
But it keeps them on my knife.
How many peas can I get on my knife?
1, 2, 3, . . . . .
